Short Description: Blue-gray tabby she-cat with green eyes
Appearance:
Torrent is a simple-looking blue-gray tabby she-cat. She has lovely green eyes, and all and all is nothing really special. She is young, and despite this, decades of maturity lie beneath those lovely eyes. Her history is a complete mystery, well, to anyone else. Her tabby fur is patchy, and short, and she is a rugged looking cat most of the time. Her once-luxurious and well-kept fur has become straggly, patchy, and unkempt. Torrent's paws are small, and her claws are actually a little shorter than normal.Personality:
She's not quick, and she's clumsy, but where she is slow, she makes up with strength. Her teeth, exceptionally sharp and a tad longer than normal, perhaps a half inch or so, make her a bit of a force to be reckoned with. She doesn't look like much, but she can pack a punch when she wants to. Although slow, Torrent is flexible and limber, and can jump, hop, and has acute senses, and the occasional quick reaction.
Her belly is soft and round, and a solid, smooth, cream color, the only part of her that is still nicely kept. It's swirly-patterned, and is unique, and although unique is good sometimes, she always is afraid the some cat will come along and slit open her belly. Not a happy prospect...
Torrent is not named for her speed, obviously, but her personality. She's like a torrent. Not one to linger on things, she will move on quickly. A little ditsy sometimes, and a bit dense at others, Torrent has learned her lesson in saying odd, rude things, and keeps her mouth shut. Although clumsy and slow, her brute strength helps, and makes up for it, along with her sometimes-quick wit. Torrent has never been very patient, and doesn't like to wait.History:
Normally calm, she values her freedom, having lived in fear of the other gangs when she was in the downbeat, lower city, where gangs roamed wild, while still respecting the boundaries of the other gangs. Torrent's a free-spirited cat, with a great capacity to love. Of course, given what she went through, she has no desire to lose anyone close to her too quickly, even though that occurred just shy of a year ago. Her memories linger, even though she tries to bat them away.
Torrent, playful and fun-loving sometimes, is adventurous, and loves to explore new places. She is creative, and inventive, and handy to have along on a dangerous quest, because of her inventive skills. Once encountering another loner called Marina, they worked together to figure out how to get around the glass, and finally came up with a solution - sticks. She also invented a way for the gang boundary lines to be more guarded without risking more cats, and being cleared off by Flatpaws (Humans). Small thorns and little splinters, almost invisible. Torrent, although ditsy at times, can be quite the thinker at others.
Born in the downbeat of the city, Torrent was daughter of two lower-class cats of her gang, the omega, the expendables. Torrent, although she lived a simple, terrifying-sometimes life, was happy, she didn't know life any other way. She was innocent, and happy, and playful, always laughing, and playing with the other kits. Her best friend? The son of the lead cats in her gang. They became very close, and he stuck by her when her parents were gone. She became like a second daughter to the leads. But one day, innocent little Torrent's parents left for a mission. They said they'd be okay, and they'd come back. But they didn't.IC:
Torrent waited, and waited, but they didn't turn up. So Torrent was adopted into the lead's family, and started living the life of an upperclassman. Her friend, his siblings, and her were happy once more. Her friend was the youngest of the family, and, therefore, not heir to the gang, but still expected to carry the line. But Achilles wasn't interested in love. He wanted to explore, and discover. And since he wasn't courting any cat, his parents chose for him. And guess who they chose? Torrent.
Then only nine moons, Torrent and the other kits had all already been trained, the training having started shortly after four moons. Being in the downbeat, the cats weren't very safe, and training was intense, therefore, harsh. They weren't done training, but at seven moons, cats were expected to court, and have conceived kits by the time that they were fourteen moons. Torrent and Achilles were horrified at first, being friends, love would be strictly out of line. But eventually, they calmed down, and went back to training.
Torrent was stuck in a class for she-cats, to learn how to depend on themselves, and defend their kits and family when they needed to. She was looked as lucky to be mate to one of the leaders' kits, but she found it annoying. She hadn't chose her mate - her adoptive parents had. Torrent soon finished with average results, and, at the traditional age of ten moons, was released from her classes, and became a full fighter of the gang.
The pressure was soon on them- Achilles and Torrent -to have kits. She was hitting eleven moons, and she didn't want kits. But that was before Achilles noticed his friend and mate in a new light. It became a case of, at first, unrequited love, and then returned love. Achilles' parents sighed in relief to see Torrent and their son showing more than just friendship. By then, she was almost thirteen moons. She was a bit behind, but, as she-cats were expected to in her gang, was pregnant, despite the fact that she wasn't going as fast as the others.
Torrent had her three kits at the age of sixteen moons, frighteningly young for a clan cat. Her crazy-for-her mate loved them with everything he had in him. Splash, Tsunami, and Arrow were good enough, even though Arrow was a bit of a rascal. And his curiosity eventually lead to a premature death, when he stuck his nose into enemy gang territory. Gangs have no mercy for other gangs' cats, even kits. And so, Arrow was killed, and the slashed body was returned to his gang. Torrent wasn't blamed, in the city life, there are no bad mothers, no bad kits, only bad fathers. And so, daddy Achilles was blamed, and sunk into depression.
Torrent and her remaining kits, her she-kit and tom, spent the time together, and were saddened to see Achilles slope downwards. The elder cats wondered how a cat with so much life could lose it all with a single, simple death. Torrent tried to help, but nothing worked, and she eventually left him, spending all of her time with her two kits, who were great, and worked heard. Achilles dragged himself out to enemy territory one night, and made a suicidal attempt for revenge. The tom was killed, and surprisingly, Torrent wasn't sad, she was expecting it. She had distanced her kits from their father, so none of them were close to him by the time the end of his life came around.
When she was about twenty-one moons, Torrent left the gang, telling her kits to live well. 'Work hard, earn what you get, and do not follow your father's path, my kits. I love you, and wish your brother were here too, but he is watching us. You will see him again some day. Good bye.' Those were her parting words, and thus, Torrent left the gang world, and entered into forest life as a loner. She didn't wish to join a clan, not yet. They sounded much like the gangs, and Torrent couldn't bear going through that again. Yes, she had loved. Yes, she had lost. But in the end, it didn't really matter. She was happy now.
